Fire cisterns
In terms of maintenance, fire cisterns are rather trouble-free. Fire cisterns installed by HooVos consist of sustainable parts that have little wear and tear. However, every fire cistern must undergo an annual inspection to ensure that it isn’t damaged and is able to deliver the correct flow rate. HooVos is able to regenerate older fire cisterns as well.
We use an equipped unit that consists of a water pump with measuring equipment, solely for fire cistern check-ups. We perform check-ups on open and closed fire cisterns. All measurements are registered and processed so that we can deliver them digitally.
We assess the location and accessibility (level of vegetation, for example) and make sure serial numbers, the description of the type of cistern and the construction year are visible. We measure X and Y coordinates and the total capacity of the fire cistern. The flow rate gets determined with an approved and calibrated digital water meter. We check for other damages after which we deliver a report and certificate.

Fire cisterns from HooVos
When drilling a fire cistern, no mistakes can be made. In the event of an emergency, a fire cistern must work faultlessly, be accessible and undamaged. Sustainability is becoming increasingly important. The installation takes place according to a specific procedure; including a drilling description in accordance with (Dutch norm) NEN 5104, and a capacity test. After testing the fire cistern(s), the client will be provided with a full report.

After the construction of a fire cistern, it’s important to ensure proper maintenance. More and more municipalities, fire brigades, institutions and companies must therefore comply with periodic inspections. It obviously is of great importance that fire cisterns, just like any other extinguishing agent, function properly when needed. HooVos is happy to relieve you of all maintenance related worries.

Frequently asked questions
The location of an extinguishing agent must be marked in accordance with NEN 4001-3011. If necessary, the location of the extinguishing agent should be indicated with additional signs. For example, consider an icon in combination with an arrow for the direction. You must keep an overview of the types, number and locations of the extinguishing agents.
In general, we recommend foam extinguishers, because they cause the least collateral damage. Our foam extinguishers can extinguish up to 1,000 V and can also be used on, for example, normal-sized meter boxes.
In addition, powder extinguishers are mainly recommended for hazardous substances. Carbon dioxide snow extinguishers no longer fall under the basic extinguishing agents and can be used extra for, for example, a server room.
A building has such a lighting installation that it can be used and left safely. Obligation to provide emergency lighting is determined by the functional use of a building. This is indicated by a table in the Building Decree.

We advise our customers to replace the AED after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. The manufacturer’s warranty can differ per brand, but on average this is 8 years. We are not saying that the AED will no longer work after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired, but ‘assuming’ that the AED works in the event of an incident is too great a risk!

HooVos is a recognized fire protection company and must maintain the extinguishing equipment of their customers every year, so that they retain their recognition. Insurance companies sometimes want to deviate from this, but this depends on the relevant risk. If you also want to have the maintenance carried out once every two years, make sure that you receive this ‘in black and white’ from the insurance company, so that you will be paid by them in the event of an incident.
